How the Method Worked & Why It Was Patched
1. Public Trainer Code Resolution (Historical)
While the bug was active, entering a public 12-digit Friend Code allowed a bridge service to resolve a trainer's internal Player ID without requiring any login credentials.
2. Per-Trainer Encounter Seed Check (Patched)
Scanners checked wild encounter parameters against that Player ID to see if the server would roll a shiny. Niantic has now patched the server response so individual shiny rolls are hidden until tapped in-game.
