Understanding Pokémon GO Shiny Rates & Encounters

Standard Shiny Rates
In Pokémon GO, the base wild shiny rate is typically 1 in 512 (approx. 0.2%). Certain species have permanently boosted base shiny rates of 1 in 64 (such as Scyther, Onix, or legendary encounters in raids at 1 in 20).
Boosted Event Odds
During special events like Community Days, shiny rates can be boosted to 1 in 25 for the featured species. Spotlight Hours and Safari Zones also feature highly boosted shiny encounter probabilities.
Live Shiny Tracking
We calculate active shiny rates using real-time community scans. Since the sample sizes dynamically grow, rates may experience slight variance, but high confidence intervals help confirm genuine boosts.
